We’re going to cover something which has long been questioned by many, but is not well understood; in fact, until very recently this is a phenomena is something which has really not been understood at all. We’re talking of course about what some call male menopause; or to term it in a less confusing manner, andropause. Many have suspected that there was a physiological basis for midlife crises; while these are in some cases exactly what they seem, there is often an underlying hormonal explanation for the phenomenon. Keep reading to learn more about the symptoms of andropause and what the treatments are for these symptoms, including the human growth hormone and testosterone boosting supplement called Provacyl.

While not all men experience this “male menopause” unlike in women where it is a universal experience, the phenomenon popularly referred to as a midlife crisis may in many cases actually be the symptoms of andropause showing up. Don’t Believe Those Menopause Myths

September 6th, 2009 by Menopause | No Comments | Filed in Menopause FAQs

There are so many misconceptions and myths about the menopause, so it’s no wonder that women can get confused. Referring to it as “the change” makes it sound like a sudden and terrifying occasion however life is a series of gradual changes of which the menopause is a natural part. One of the frightening things you may be told is that your memory will never be the same but this isn’t strictly true.

A study from the University of California proven that any forgetfulness is only temporary for most women and learning ability returns to normal after the menopause. This is good news for the 60% of women who claim memory problems. You may be surprised at the amount of misinformation around the menopause and it isn’t always easy to cope however knowing the difference between fact and fiction can make it a whole lot easier.

All Women Will Suffer Uncomfortable Menopause Symptoms

Most women get one or two of the most general symptoms including hot flushes and night sweats however many sail through the menopause with no problems at all. Branding of “the change” as some kind of nightmare makes women to fear and dread it unnecessarily. In countries like Japan where age is revered and older women are respected, fewer physical and psychological symptoms are reported. I feel negative attitudes about the menopause and aging in the West have an adverse effect on women here.

Advances in health research and technology have changed they way menopause affects women. While many decades ago menopause marked the end of a woman’s life cycle, now they spend over a third of their lives in this stage.

Frustrating and debilitating ailments can begin up to ten years before a woman is considered to have reached menopause. This perimenopause phase precedes the time period used to define menopause, which is the absence of a menstrual cycle for at least one full year.

Menopause Is A Change Of Life And Not The End Of Life

August 3rd, 2009 by Menopause | 2 Comments | Filed in Menopause

Menopause is simply one of several phases in the reproductive life of a woman. Menopause or the permanent end of menstruation and sterility is a natural biological process but not a medical illness. Generally menopause is merely the name given to the last menstrual period.

Menopause before the age of 40 is known as early menopause. Hormonal changes cause the physical sign of menopause however mistaken beliefs about the menopausal transition are partly to blame for the emotional ones. The menstrual blood is partly tissue and partly blood from inside the uterus or womb and it draws out of the body through the vagina. Periods usually start around age 12 and continue until menopause at about age 51. Premenstrual syndrome or PMS is a group of symptoms which start before the period and approximately 1 percent of women experience menopause before age 40.

Menopause may result from premature ovarian failure and menopausal women tend to exercise less than other women which can show the way to weight gain. For most women, shifts and additions in weight begin during perimenopause which the years leading up to menopause. Weight gain can also have serious effects for your health and these factors also put you at increased risk of heart disease and stroke.
